(Togo First) – In Togo, the University of Lomé (U.L) will host its first international scientific symposium on the blue economy next week. The event, scheduled from November 19 to 21, 2024, is themed « Challenges, Issues, and Perspectives of the Blue Economy in Africa » and is being organized in collaboration with various research units from the University of Lomé, particularly those from the faculties of economics and human and social sciences.
For the organizers, the goal is to explore the opportunities of the blue economy for the continent, with its 38 coastal states, including Togo, creating « huge potential, » despite facing various challenges « such as climate change, pollution, and poor governance. »
As part of the international meeting, which aims to bring together the academic community on these issues (researchers, academic staff, and PhD students), presentations will address topics such as entrepreneurship in the blue economy sector, blue economy and law, blue accounting, and ocean governance.
