The World Bank (WB) delivered this Monday 27 but, through the voice of its resident representative in Tunisia, Alexandre Arrobbio, its photograph of the contribution of the tourism and maritime fishing sectors in the formation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP ) Tunisian.
These two sectors represent « no less than 14% of Tunisia’s GDP and contribute up to creating 100,000 jobs », confided Alexandre Arrobbio, on the sidelines of a meeting dedicated to the development of a « Roadmap for “blue economy and a plastic-free coastal strategy”.
The development of the aforementioned “Road Map” constitutes a challenge that forced the “Tunisian Government to make this issue a priority in terms of investment,” adds the representative of the WB, Alexandre Arrobbio.
Tourism is a driving force of the Tunisian economy which is very little dependent on the exploitation of mineral wealth. In recent years, Tunis has made the development of the blue economy on its soil a priority to strengthen its comparative advantages compared to other Maghreb economies.
