Tunisian freediver Walid Boudhiaf has set a new national record by reaching a depth of 118 meters in Constant Weight with Fins (CWT) at the Vertical Blue 2025, an international freediving competition held from July 1–11 at Dean’s Blue Hole, Long Island, Bahamas.

Organized by New Zealander William Trubridge, an 18-time world record holder, and supervised by the World Confederation of Underwater Activities (CMAS), this prestigious event annually brings together the world’s top deep freedivers.

The competition features three disciplines: Constant Weight with Fins (CWT), Constant Weight without Fins (CNF), and Free Immersion (FIM). Performances are eligible for national, continental, and world record validation in accordance with CMAS standards.

Walid Boudhiaf proudly represents Tunisia — one of only two Arab countries participating this year, alongside Saudi Arabia. With his 118-meter dive, the Tunisian athlete marks a major milestone in both his career and the history of national freediving.

This edition of Vertical Blue hosts around twenty elite athletes, including William Trubridge (New Zealand), Alenka Artnik (Slovenia), Arnaud Jerald (France), Alice Modolo (France), and Filippo Carletti (Italy).

Boudhiaf’s performance sets a new Tunisian national record in one of the sport’s most demanding disciplines, reinforcing Tunisia’s growing presence in the global freediving community. Following his record-breaking dive, he proudly raised the Tunisian flag, embodying the spirit of excellence and resilience that defines the country’s athletes on the international stage.

This achievement not only highlights Walid Boudhiaf’s personal dedication but also inspires a new generation of Tunisian freedivers eager to carry the national colors to new depths in underwater sports.
