Quand la mer monte : un enjeu mondial | Le Dessous des Cartes | ARTE

Rising sea levels are one of the consequences of climate change that will reshape the world map. Different countries are trying to adapt with a variety of strategies. « Le dessous des cartes » offers a global tour of the most vulnerable coastlines and the solutions imagined to best protect humanity.

Since 1900, the average sea level has risen by 21 cm, and this increase is accelerating, threatening millions of people worldwide. From Shanghai to Tuvalu, from megacities to small islands, the rise of the seas and submersion will drastically alter the world map. While some regions are already facing urgent challenges, such as New Orleans or the Netherlands, others, like the South Pacific islands, may simply disappear.
