Tunisian Swimmer Ahmed Jaouadi Wins Gold in 800m Freestyle at World Championships in Singapore

Tunisian swimmer Ahmed Jaouadi won the gold medal in the men’s 800m freestyle on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the World Aquatics Championships currently taking place in Singapore. He finished first with a time of 7 minutes, 36 seconds, and 88 hundredths.

Jaouadi outpaced Germany’s Sven Schwarz, who took silver in 7:39.96, and Luka Martens, who claimed bronze with 7:40.19.

The day before, Jaouadi had qualified for the final with the fastest time across all heats, setting a new personal best of 7:41.58. Australia’s Samuel Short had placed second (7:42.22), followed by Sven Schwarz (7:43.60).

Jaouadi is also set to compete in the 1,500m freestyle, scheduled for August 2, as part of the ongoing world championships.

At just 20 years old, Ahmed Jaouadi had already made waves at the 2024 World Short Course Championships in Budapest, winning gold in the 1,500m freestyle and bronze in the 800m. He also impressed at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, finishing fourth in the 800m and sixth in the 1,500m freestyle.
