Ms. Letícia Carvalho joined UNEP in February 2020 as Head of the Marine and Fresh Water Branch, at the Ecosystem Division. She brings over 15 years of experience in environmental policy making and implementation. Before joint she served the Federal Government of Brazil for 18 years as Marine Expert, Coordinator ofChemicals Safety and Director of Environmental Quality. Ms. Carvalho led on multilateral agreements included IMO Conventions, the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from land-Based Activities, the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management, the Minamata Convention on Mercury and chemicals and waste conventions. She has a Master in Sustainable Development from the University of Brasilia and a Bachelors in Oceanography from University of Rio Grande.
