In France, 40 million plastic bottles are consumed every day. These mountains of plastic contribute to climate warming and pollution of the seabed. The “Objectif zero plastic bottles” collective has just published a website with 170 solutions to reduce this number of bottles.
Today, 58% of plastic bottles are recycled. The rest ends up in the trash at best, then in a landfill or in an incinerator, but often also in nature. It is one of the major sources of pollution in marine environments and contributes 3.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, as much as the aviation sector. If nothing is done, plastic production is expected to triple by 2050.
On April 22, during Earth Day, a collective of associations and companies published a website objectifzerobouteilleplastique.org which lists 170 solutions to help us consume these bottles less. In particular, we find a map of France with 20,000 water points to fill our water bottle for free.
