The Agence de Protection et d’Aménagement du Littoral (APAL), Nabeul section, continues its campaign to clean up 44 beaches (22 public and 22 tourist), as part of a national program set up by the agency, in cooperation with the Fund for the Protection of Tourist Areas. LayoutLandscape
The head of the mechanical cleaning project of the beaches Nabil Mokhtar explained to the TAP agency that the interventions continue until next September targeting both tourist and public beaches.
At the national level, the official indicated that the program will be executed in 152 beaches over a length of 180 km and an area of 6500 ha.
For his part, APAL regional director Karim Boulifa, indicated that the mechanical and manual cleaning operations of most of the beaches in the region are experiencing a high influx of summerers from several regions of the country.
He said that the Agency’s services have launched, in coordination with security units, including the Maritime Guard and the tourist police, control campaigns to combat various overtaking and infractions committed on the beaches. These operations are part of the continuous surveillance of the maritime public domain, the fight against anarchic occupations and the control of compliance with the authorizations granted.
Until this Sunday, four control campaigns have been carried out in Hammam El Ghezaz, Hammamet, El Haouaria and Kélibia having allowed, he said. He added that these campaigns will continue, in coordination with the security services during the months of July and August, in order to protect the maritime public domain and guarantee the right of citizens to enjoy the beaches, which constitute a public good intended for common use.
