The Spirit of Ponant, a luxurious 24-meter boat that can carry up to 12 people, will set off on a first sailing crossing in July from Corsica.

In a world where luxury is increasingly combined with exclusivity and respect for the environment, Ponant, the French cruise flagship, owned by Artemis (the Pinault family holding company) since 2015, reaffirms its ambition to combine these two requirements. The company, renowned for its high-end exploration voyages, is taking a new step in its development with the announcement of its maxi-catamaran, the Spirit of Ponant.

This Thursday, Ponant unveiled this future jewel of the seas, promising a remarkable foray into the field of yachting. This 24 meter boat will accommodate a maximum of 12 passengers, in six luxurious cabins. On board, they will benefit from a most personalized experience: refined gastronomy, cellar and cocktails, room service, and water activities will be included. The crew, made up of a commander, a chef, a sailor and a cabin attendant, will be entirely dedicated to respecting the company’s high standards.

Hervé Gastinel, president of Ponant, emphasizes that the Spirit of Ponant embodies a new expression of the pioneering spirit of the company. “Our passengers will have a true sailor experience, will be able to interact with the captain and create the trip that exactly meets their desires,” he explains. This cruise format, a first for Ponant, invites you to confidential anchorages, escapes to preserved and magical places, while benefiting from a level of service that has made Ponant’s reputation.

Respectful navigation

Built in France, the Spirit of Ponant, which will mainly sail, also symbolizes Ponant’s commitment to more responsible tourism. Last February, its ships obtained Green Globe certification, a first for a maritime cruise company. This certification was issued to all four sisterships in the Le Boréal series, the six Ponant Explorers as well as the Commandant Charcot and the sailboat Le Ponant. And that’s not all. In July 2023, Ponant announced its first carbon neutral boat. Expected no later than 2030, this 180-meter vessel will use an energy mix combining sail propulsion, solar energy, bio-LNG, synthetic fuels and liquid hydrogen, associated with a very innovative fuel cell system. Until then, the first sailing crossings of the Spirit of Ponant are planned in Corsica during the summer of 2024, before heading to the Seychelles for the winter of 2025.
