angier (© 2026 Afriquinfos)- Lloyd’s List’s « One Hundred Port 2026 » Report, which was reset in September 2026, now ranks seven of the best performing in the world, compared to four in the previous ranking. 16th in the world, the Moroccan infrastructure ‘Tanger Med’ consolidates its first continental place.
With the main criterion « recorded traffic volumes » in 2025, ‘Lloyd’s List’ ranks the top 100 container ports in the world. In its 2026 edition, seven African Ports appear, compared to four in the previous edition.
‘Tanger Med’ still behaves as well and ranks 16th in the world. The Moroccan Port processed 11.1 million TEU (equivalent to twenty feet) in 2025, compared to 10.24 million in 2024, an increase of 8.4%.
‘Tanger Med’ leaves its African competitors far away, because the 2nd continental platform, ‘Port-Saïd’ in Egypt is 43rd in the world while the Port of Durban in South Africa is positioned 80th. Then comes the Port of Alexandria in Egypt which is ranked 87th, then the Autonomous Port of Lomé, Togo, 91st. The sixth and seventh African Ports in the Lloyd’s List Top 100 are respectively that of Tema in Ghana (94th) and that of Mombasa in Kenya, 99th.
