The period of closure of octopus fishing was extended until November 15, 2026, on the recommendation of the advisory commission responsible for the organization of maritime fishing at the Ministry of Agriculture, based on the results of the scientific monitoring carried out by the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM).
Ali Yahya, head of the INSTM branch in Zarzis, said that field trips carried out at the port of El Ktef and in several fishing areas on the Tunisian coast revealed insufficient quantities of octopuses, with regard to the scientific criteria for monitoring production areas.
