Safran Tunisia will finance the installation of 30 Zigofiltres in Soliman, a system designed by the Tunisian startup Wayout to intercept waste flown by rainwater before it reaches the sea.
This funding is part of the group’s social responsibility policy, supporting the municipality of Soliman in the deployment of this solution on its territory to strengthen the protection of its environment.
This collaboration between an innovative start-up, a committed industrialist and a local authority aims to bring a technical invention to the stage of a concrete application, with the ambition of preserving urban and coastal environments.
The Zygofiltres of Wayout, a startup specializing in pollution control and in particular in the treatment of plastic waste, are designed to operate for 15 years. This equipment reduces the accumulation of plastic and other debris in pipes, allows better flow of runoff water, reduces the risk of flooding and limits pollution of marine environments. This innovation produces a triple benefit, both environmental, social and economic, including the improvement of the working conditions of cleaning agents, regularly brought to handle waste with bare hands, in conditions deemed unworthy and allowing municipalities to reduce their urban maintenance expenses.
Until 2024, four years after its creation, Wayout had already installed more than 2000 filters in 22 municipalities in Tunisia. The start-up has since continued to chain partnerships with economic actors in the private and public sectors. Pluxee Tunisia has formalized a partnership with the startup for the installation of a filtration system near its headquarters, as part of its own social responsibility policy. Attijari Bank Tunisia also conducted a joint action with Wayout at the Centre Urbain Nord against urban pollution. Tunisie Telecom, for its part, financed the installation of 100 Zigofiltres in the municipality of Bardo, while the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations Tunisie supported, as part of its CSR approach, the installation of 48 Zigofiltres in Sidi Thabet. In Dar Chaabane El Fihri, Wayout deployed its Zigofiltres to limit the risk of flooding by retaining waste in the municipality’s sanitation network. This project, carried out in partnership with the municipality and Philip Morris International in Tunisia, resulted in the installation of 246 Zigofilters in a city regularly affected by serious floods.
