The ocean temperature maps turn red. Their crimson recalls that of Météo-France’s vigilance bulletins, which urge the inhabitants of France to protect themselves from the heat wave.

The French maritime facades also suffer a heat stroke: in the Bay of Biscay, between Brittany and Spain, the temperature on the sea surface reaches 22.2 °C in the satellite data analyzed by Météo-France, more than 4 degrees above normal (1991-2020) and above the 2023 records for the period.

The Mediterranean is also overheating: in its northwestern part, the Grande Bleue reaches an average of 26.3 °C, when the usual values in this period are usually at 22.1 °C.
