Two Renaissance deputies from Loire-Atlantique, Yannick Haury and Sophie Errante, signed with 38 deputies from the presidential majority, a bill carried by Sophie Panonacle, deputy for Gironde, for the strengthening of the monitoring of maritime policies.

Sophie Panonacle, MP for the 8th constituency of Gironde and president of the office of the National Sea and Coastal Council, and 40 MPs from the presidential majority (Renaissance, Horizons, MoDem), including two MPs from Loire-Atlantique, Yannick Haury (Pays de Retz) and Sophie Errante (Vignoble), have tabled a bill to strengthen the monitoring of maritime policies. This bill aims to monitor the application of the measures of the Interministerial Committee for the Sea (CIMer) and to evaluate public policies for the blue economy.

“The monitoring of measures taken by the CIMer remains too confidential”

In 2019, the President of the Republic affirmed that the 21st century would be maritime, thus underlining the crucial importance of this space for France. In this context, the CIMer plays a central role. It is responsible for deliberating on the Government’s policy in the area of the sea and setting government guidelines in this area. However, it appears that the monitoring of the measures taken by the CIMer remains too confidential, notes Sophie Panonacle, in a press release.

This bill provides that the government submits annually to Parliament a report presenting the evolution of public actions in the maritime domain, as well as those planned for the coming year. It will also be the subject of a debate before Parliament.
