Geneviève Pons is an honorary Director of the European Commission (EC). She was in charge of environmental and climate matters in Jacques Delors’ Cabinet during his last two mandates as President of the EC (1991-1995). She then held several management positions in the EC. She was appointed Director of the Legal Service of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 2013 and Director of the European Office of WWF in June 2015. From November 2017 until December 2019, she headed the Brussels office of the Jacques Delors Institute. In January 2020, she was appointed as the head of Europe Jacques Delors AISBL, the latest of a family of think tanks perpetuating Jacques Delors’ European vision. She is a graduate from the Sorbonne, Sciences-Po Paris and ENA.

Genevieve is considered as one of the most influential women in Brussels, notably in the field of environment, see  Politico. She is an active member of  Ocean Unite and of the  Antarctica2020 coalition, aiming at the protection of vast marine areas around Antarctica.  She is a member of the Assembly of the Mission Healthy Oceans, Seas, Coastal and Inland Waters, chaired by Pascal Lamy. She is also vice-President of Transparency International Europe and member of the Jury of the Prix du Livre Européen
