A defender and veteran of environmental and ocean protection since the 1970s, he co-founded Greenpeace International and established its presence in France and other regions, serving as its director for twenty-six years. He initiated several international initiatives for environmental conservation, such as the UNEP’s Green Job initiative in 2006. As the Deputy Executive Secretary and one of the initiators of the Global Ocean Commission, he currently serves as the Director of the Varda Group, which he co-founded.
