For our 60th anniversary, we are entering a new era: that of sustainability, driven by the generation of solutions.

On this occasion, the Paul Ricard Oceanographic Institute is proud to have participated in the baptism of the first electric boat providing regular connections between Bandol and Bendor Island.

Called Amista – « friendship » in Provençal – this ship embodies a strong vision: maritime transport that respects ecosystems and resolutely turned to the future.

Beyond the symbol, it is a concrete advance:
– a significant reduction in noise pollution and zero direct discharge at sea
– a saving of 15,000 litres of fuel per year
– a decrease of 30 to 40 tons of carbon emissions per year

We are particularly proud that Patricia Ricard, President of the Institute, is the godmother:
« Being Amista’s godmother means carrying a deep conviction: that innovation must be at the service of the sea and its preservation. Every concrete step counts to build a more sustainable Mediterranean. «

In the presence of the Minister of Transport, this event highlights the urgency of accelerating the ecological transition of the maritime sector.

For 60 years, the Institute has been committed to the sea. Today more than ever, we are acting to bring out concrete solutions in favor of marine biodiversity and more responsible mobility.
