The Coastal Protection and Development Agency (Apal) conducted a control campaign on Monday, June 22, 2026, on Mataris beach, a famous rocky coast located in the governorate of Nabeul. Carried out in coordination with the Haouaria Coast Guard, the operation revealed several offences related to the illegal exploitation of the maritime public domain.

Illegal exploitation of the maritime public domain

In a press release published on the same day, Apal specifies that this campaign gave rise to the establishment of 18 minutes for commercial exploitation of the maritime public domain without legal authorization.

The intervention is part of the control missions carried out by the agency to ensure compliance with the regulations governing the occupation and exploitation of the coastline.

Warning to summer visitors and carriers

The teams present on site also made summer visitors aware of the dangers of swimming on this site, recalling that it is an unsupervised beach.

The agency also called on the owners of the boats transporting visitors to this rocky coast to fully assume their responsibilities. It points out that the people sent to these places are deposited on undeveloped beaches, without basic infrastructure and the necessary protective devices.
